Dr. Dennis Harper answers FAQ on IsaWATER.
To best educate you on the background and benefits of Isagenix’s just-launched IsaWATER™ Alkalized Concentrate, we’ve collected many of your questions and enlisted the help of Dr. Dennis Harper.
Dr. Harper is the chair of Isagenix’s Scientific Advisory Board and author of Cleanse for Life: Nature’s Best Kept Secret.

Q. Dr. Harper, would you tell us a little about your history with purified water?
A. I have always recommended the benefits of enjoying clean water and for about the last twenty years or so I used distilled and reverse osmosis (RO) water. I like to know what is in the water I drink.
About four years ago, I found out that these waters were acidic, which caused me a lot of concern. My understanding was that acidic water should only be used on the outside of the body and alkaline water on the inside. In chemistry I was taught that water should have a ph of 7 if it is distilled. It was a surprise to me to find that distilled water was acidic.
Q. What drew you to alkaline, high negative Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) water, which is what is featured in IsaWATER™ Alkalized Concentrate?
A. I was introduced to IsaWATER last year and I saw that not only did it make the distilled and RO waters alkaline, but also did so with a very low PPM count of solute. It was at that time that I was also introduced to the idea that water could act like an antioxidant if it was given a negative ORP value.
To me, negative ORP was a whole new way of looking at water. I have recommended antioxidants to my patients for years and to now find that water could also be an antioxidant was exciting. So I started testing different water concentrates to try to find the best water I could for Isagenix.
After about 3 months of research I decided that IsaWATER was the best that I could find if you factor in flavor, negative ORP values, alkalinity and PPM.
Q. How should consumers use IsaWATER™ for most benefit?
A. I recommend using the IsaWATER for all the water a person drinks. I love the idea that you can get a positive result over time from a negative ORP water.
The idea that we are what we consume and absorb is a great understanding of the human body. By using the IsaWATER daily it means that not only are you getting good Isagenix products daily, but all of the water you are drinking has now taken on an additional layer of protection for your body.
For most people, we recommend at least 1/2 gallon of pure water daily (8 oz glasses eight times daily) while cleansing and by adding the IsaWATER helps in hydrating the body and more importantly the cells based on the understanding of the aquaporins. It’s also an alkaline water so it is one more tool to help a person have a more alkaline diet.
Q. Does IsaWATER remove toxins from the water?
A. No, it does not remove anything that already is in the water. It will help reduce the effect of free radicals in the water because of its high negative ORP value.
Q. What actually makes the water alkaline?
A. We do add a small amount of minerals to the water to make it alkaline. However, we also use an ionizer to split water into acidic and alkaline parts. Then, we collect the alkaline side.
Q. Will the ionized charge on the water interfere with the way the electrolytes work in Want More Energy?
A. No, there is not a problem with mixing it with the Want More Energy. The high negative ORP will not be lost.
Q. How long does IsaWATER increase the pH? Can you add it ahead of time?
A. After adding IsaWATER, the pH won’t change much over time, but it is the negative ORP value that is also important. The high negative ORP value does degrade because of light, heat and oxidation so I recommend that you do not mix a lot unless you are going to be gone all day long. Even then since it is portable you can take the drops with you. We don’t recommend longer than 8 hours ahead of time.
Q. When you add the drop or two of the IsaWATER to the 8 oz. of water, by how much will the pH increase? For instance, if your water tests at 6.0, how much would our IsaWATER boost that number? If you add more than one drop does it increase that number as well? Or is it something that builds up overtime in your system?
A. One squirt should raise the pH to alkaline even with acidic water. If you add more it will slowly increase it toward the pH of 10, but the most change you will see will be at the initial squirt. Only one squirt is necessary. No, it does not accumulate in the body.
Q. How does our product differ from other water ionizers?
A. This water will retain its alkalinity and it is portable and much cheaper than expensive ionizers.
Q. How many bottles of IsaWATER are recommended for a typical one-month supply per person?

Dr. Harper recommends most people should drink 1/2 gallon of water daily with 1 squirt of IsaWATER per each 8 oz glass.
A. This will depend on the amount of water that a person drinks. I recommend at least 1/2 gallon a day so this would require 2 bottle a month.
Can you add IsaWater to hot beverages?
A. Yes, you can add it after you heat the water. Heating will cause you to lose the ORP value.
Q. Can you use too much product in a day?
A. IsaWATER is about as toxic as water.
Q. I read that potassium hydroxide can be toxic. Can you please tell me how this ingredient is non-toxic in IsaWATER?
A. It should not be a concern. The amount of potassium hydroxide would be at the same level you’d find in normal tap water. In one squirt of IsaWATER, it will be equivalent to .1 PPM, which is practically nonexistent.
Q. After opening, am I correct that IsaWATER does not need to be refrigerated? Is it still good after the expiration date?
A. IsaWATER does not need to be refrigerated if it is in a cool dry place, but I still put mine in the refrigerator because heat is one of the destabilizing factors for reducing the ORP value. It may still be good after the expiration date, but that would depend on how much heat it was exposed to, if it were in the sun, or if it had been opened and exposed to oxygen.
