A review of human clinical trials finds resveratrol, found in grapes, can alleviate effects of aging.
Resveratrol stimulates genetic expression of Sirt1, “the longevity gene,” similar to calorie restriction (CR). This is the reason why resveratrol is well known as a CR mimetic and why, like CR, it extends lifespan in the fruit fly, the nematode worm, yeast and rodents. Even in studies where resveratrol didn’t increase lifespan, it still appears to reduce those unwanted changes that can come with age.
According to a recent comprehensive review of human clinical trials, there may be something to the claim that resveratrol delays aging in humans, or at least has the potential of “softening” the effects of aging on the human body.
The review examined laboratory animal and cell culture studies to clarify what is well-understood, what is possible, and what is yet to be determined regarding resveratrol and human health.
“We believe the evidence is sufficiently strong to conclude that a single dose of resveratrol is able to induce beneficial physiologic responses, and that either weeks or months of resveratrol supplementation produces physiologic changes that are predictive of improved health,” the authors wrote.
In part, resveratrol keeps cells healthy by reducing oxidative stress and by promoting blood vessel dilation, increasing circulation throughout the body and to the brain.
A healthy dose of 250 milligrams of resveratrol (as trans-resveratrol) is provided by each serving (2 softgels) of Isagenix Ageless Actives in combination with therapeutic doses of highly absorbable CoQ10 (100 milligrams) and Vitamin D3 (1,000 IU). The supplement is a key component of the Ageless Essentials Daily Pack designed to provide vitamins, minerals and bioactives at optimal dosages for healthy aging.
