Isagenix Presented at World Anti-Aging Medicine Conference

Robert Watine, M.D.

On the final day of the 19th World Congress of Anti-Aging Medicine and Aesthetic Medicine in Las Vegas, a roomful of forward-thinking medical professionals gathered to learn about a safe, effective nutritional cleansing system for reducing body fat while preserving muscle.

Robert Watine, M.D., of Port Charlotte, Florida, gave the presentation on Dec. 10, sharing his personal experience in incorporating the Isagenix system as an adjunct therapy to standard medical practice in his own patients. The products, he explained, are a combination of high-protein, nutrient-dense meal replacement shakes on Shake Days, the use of an herbal beverage along with liquid fasting on Cleanse Days, and supplementation with adaptogens.

He presented pre- and post-treatment clinical outcome measures after one and three months of the dietary intervention in several of his patients. Each showed marked improvements after following the system for at least three months—body weight, plasma lipids, liver function, renal profiles, and markers of blood sugar management. No side effects were reported.

Each of the patients reported improved quality of life defined by more energy, better sleep, improved concentration, and/or better athletic performance.

“This is of real significance,” Dr. Watine said. “This is quality of life improvement doing nothing other than changing a way you eat. Eating more correctly, giving the body what it needs.”

Triathletes Gain Competitive Edge with Isagenix

Triathletes must be in top physical condition to face unique challenges.

A pilot trial finds Isagenix helps triathletes maintain top condition to face unique challenges of running, cycling, and swimming.

Training as a competitive triathlete is demanding. Unlike other endurance athletes who train for one individual sport, triathletes must meet the unique challenges of running, swimming, and cycling in an all-day race. They work long, hard hours to keep their bodies in peak condition by maintaining a balance of little body fat, yet sufficient muscle mass and energy for top performance. Now, preliminary research suggests Isagenix products could assist triathletes in achieving a competitive edge.

The Colgan Institute, an educational and research facility, conducted an open-label pilot study that followed six male athletes of medium to elite status in training for an Olympic-distance triathlon on the Isagenix Cleansing and Fat Burning System for 30 days. In addition to their regular training—about four hours per day for six days per week—the participants also agreed to do an additional 30 to 40 minute of resistance training exercises daily in accordance with the Colgan Power Program. The program, developed by Michael Colgan, Ph.D., a member of the Isagenix Scientific Advisory Board, includes three sets of eight different resistance exercises in each workout (explained fully in Dr. Colgan’s The New Power Program).

At the beginning of the trial, the entire group was at less than 10 percent body fat, and had been so for some time prior to testing. By the end of the study, participants had lost an average of 4.2 pounds, decreasing body fat by an average of 3 percent, while increasing lean body mass by an average of 0.7 pounds or 2.8 percent.

“Many programs in which athletes rapidly lose body fat also show losses of muscle mass,” Dr. Colgan said. “The result is surprising as these are athletes who were already doing everything known in athletics to minimize body fat while maintaining muscle mass.” Continue reading

All IsaLean® Bars are Low Glycemic, New Study Confirms

New study finds IsaLean Bars -- Chocolate Cream Crisp and Chocolate Peanut Crunch -- won't spike blood sugar.

New study finds Chocolate Cream Crisp and Chocolate Peanut Crunch IsaLean bars don't spike blood sugar.

Isagenix IsaLean® Bars lovers who were pleased to learn earlier this year that flavors Lemon Passion Crunch and Chocolate Decadence didn’t spike blood sugar in a clinical study will be glad to know that a new study has been completed for the other two flavors.

The results are in: IsaLean Bar Chocolate Cream Crisp and Chocolate Peanut Crunch flavors maintain normal blood sugar levels (normal plasma glucose) when compared to standard controls.

Results from both studies, performed by researchers at Brigham Young University, confirm that all IsaLean Bars flavors are low glycemic—glycemic effect is a measure of how a particular food affects blood glucose (blood sugar) levels (1 & 2).

“Once again, we’re showing that a delicious bar can still be good for you,” said Chief Science Officer Suk Cho, Ph.D. “IsaLean bars make a wonderful weight-management tools because they are high in protein and deliver a complete, nutritious meal in minimal calories.” Continue reading

IsaLean® Bars Study Confirms Low Glycemic Effect

A study finds IsaLean Bars maintain blood sugar in normal ranges.

Subjects maintain normal blood sugar levels after eating IsaLean Bars (Chocolate Decadence and Lemon Passion Crunch flavors).

Fans of Isagenix IsaLean® Bars will find enjoying them all the sweeter now that a new study has shown that eating them won’t spike blood sugar levels.

Whether customers have preference for Lemon Passion Crunch or Chocolate Decadence flavors, they can rest assured with clinical findings showing that both meal-replacement bars maintain normal levels of plasma glucose and have a statistically significantly lower glycemic effect when compared to standard controls.

Glycemic effect is a measure of how a particular food affects blood glucose levels. Eating foods balanced in protein, fats, fiber and complex carbohydrates are considered a better approach to maintain blood sugar levels (1 & 2).

In the study, Brigham Young University researchers tested blood glucose response for each of the bars and white bread (standard control) in 11 adult subjects (five men and six women)—for this type of testing, experimentation is typically performed on 10 or more subjects with standard protocols.

In a cross-over design, the scientists tested blood glucose response in each subject at the same time in the morning on three different occasions with a two-day washout period between tests.    Continue reading

Study Boosts Validity of Aging Research by John Anderson & Dr. Bill Andrews

A study shows turning on telomerase reverses aging in mice.

A study shows turning on telomerase reverses aging in mice.

A new study on mice published in Nature has added validation to research that is being performed by Bill Andrews, Ph.D., who has partnered with Isagenix Founder John Anderson to “turn back the clock” on aging.

Their approach is to screen thousands of natural product compounds a week to turn on the enzyme, telomerase, in cells to protect telomere length and reverse its loss.

Telomeres are protective sequences of repetitive non-coding DNA segments found at the end of chromosomes. In recent years, telomere length has been hypothesized to be the closest way to measure lifespan in humans.

In this latest study, Harvard Medical School researchers found that mice lacking telomerase aged much more rapidly, and died earlier, as an abundance of critically short telomeres developed. But when the enzyme was reawakened in the mice, age-related symptoms disappeared and rejuvenation was seen in several organs including their brains. Continue reading
